If you’re an Indian passport holder with a US green card or a residence visa from the UK or European Union, you can get a pre-approved visa-on-arrival to visit the UAE. Here’s a simple guide on how to apply for this visa and the requirements you need to meet.
What is the Visa-on-Arrival?
This visa allows you to stay in the UAE for 14 days. You can extend it for another 14 days, but only once. Previously, travelers would get this visa when they arrived at UAE airports. Now, you need to apply for it online before you travel.
Requirements for the Visa
To apply for the pre-approved visa-on-arrival, you’ll need:
- A valid passport or travel document.
- A permanent residence card (green card) from the USA or a residence visa from the UK or European Union countries.
- A personal photo with a white background.
How to Apply
- Visit the GDRFA Website: Go to GDRFA’s online portal.
- Register and Apply: Enter your details, upload the required documents, and pay the fee of Dh253.
- Receive Your Visa: After your application is processed, which usually takes up to 48 hours, the visa will be sent to your email.
Important Terms and Conditions
- No Entry Restrictions: You should not have any travel restrictions that prevent you from entering the UAE.
- Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
- Visa or Green Card Validity: Your US green card or residence visa from the UK or EU must also be valid for at least 6 months.
Special Note for Emirates airlines’s Passengers
In February of this year, Emirates introduced a pre-approved visa-on-arrival for certain Indian passport holders who book their travel with the airline. This 14-day single-entry visa helps you skip queues when arriving in Dubai. Emirates handles these applications through the Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC), which is operated by VFS Global.
Remember, visa approval is at the discretion of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), so make sure you meet all the requirements to avoid any issues.
